You don't know me, but I've been reading for a while, ever since a friend linked me to "the blog of the GIA guy". I just downloaded this on Sunday (the 18th) and since you were kind enough to allow me to suck up your bandwidth, I thought I give some feedback.

The first five songs are all slightly different takes on jangly acoustic guitar driven pop-songs and you fit them together very well. From a personal stand point, I espcecially like the inclusion of the Jose Gonzalez song, as he's someone I've been meaning to check out for a long time--I'm sold. I'll be picking his album up with my next music purchase.

The Aya song isn't really my thing, but it breaks up the acoustic stuff pretty well. It sounds like a song that would have lyrics I'd hate, but since I don't know what she's saying, I don't care. Finally, Broken Social Scene and Neko Case are a great way to end the mix, but the all vocal "Hide and Seek" does nothing for me (Hey lady, if you can sing, why ruin your voice with all those annoying vocal filters?)

Overall, it's an enjoyable summer-y mix. Thanks for posting it, as I always appreciate a chance to hear some new music.

Well look at that, I say I can't finish one, and then "The Albatross" inspires me to finish one! I will admit that I stole Jose Gonzalez from you, though. That album is pretty fantastic. Used a different song though.

Anyway, if you (or anyone else reading this) wants to check it out, hit up my blog, still embarrassingly hosted at LiveJournal, linked in my name on this (or my previous) comment.

If you (or any of your commenters) are interested in any of my past mixes from the last 4 or 5 years, they're all still archived at http://passionbear.com/charlesv/Mixes

Suggested order:

Wireless Romance 1-4
Analog Romance 1-2
Rebellious Romance
Musik! (For Kayla)
BZZZ RMNCE
Knitputer
Seamless Romance 1-6

The wirelesses are loosely robot love themed, and analog, human. Rebellious is more single/club themed. Musik is all songs about music. BZZZ is a throwback / breakdown of the original theme while Knitputer is just a straight up random mix. The seamless series is all actually "mixed", 1 is mixed live with NI Traktor, and 2-6 are mixed not-so-live in a more controlled environment (Ableton Live).

I think they're pretty good!

Tracklists are in jpegs or txts accompanying.

If you only download a few, I'd reccomend Wireless 1 for a pretty representative sampling of the 'theme' (though dated several years), Musik for the variety, song selection, and thematic cohesion, and seamless 3 for the most 'seamless' mix.

Actually, I have like five mixes I've had in the works for 6-9 months, now. Then I suddenly made this one in the space of about 3 days. Just let them percolate...one day, they'll come together.

Like this one a lot, with the possible exception of the inclusion of "Lover's Spit," but that's just because I'm not so hot on Broken Social Scene. I would've stuck something off the Iron and Wine & Calexico EP "In The Reins" there instead, just in terms of musical style. But I am a big fan of this mix overall. Good work.

I wish I could craft mixes as easily as you, sir. I've been working on two different ones on and off for months and months now and still don't have enough tracks for either.

Ugh. Sorry about the corruption. I installed a game demo (Titan Quest Demo) that, apparently, crashed in such a way that it corrupted the .exe of any program running at the time or before I rebooted, up to and including the Windows kernel. I did a dirty reinstall last night, hoping that it would fix the problem, but no good: my machine can't make a ZIP file to save my life, even after installing WinZIP. I'm pretty much gonna have to nuke my machine--this does not encourage me to purchase the full version of Titan Quest.

In any case, please save your sympathies and focus on the mix, for which I would love feedback: I'm upping the individual MP3s, which is a slightly greater hassle to download (sorry), but should at least be uncorrupted. Thanks!

I've downloaded it twice (sorry for the bandwidth usage), and a couple of files in the zip are corrupted and won't extract properly for me (tracks 1 and 2). I can play track 1 by skipping the corrupted section, but with no track 2, the flow is interrupted!
