wanda and the colossus
Posted on September 10th, 2004 in General
Now that the follow up to Ico has been revealed (Wanda and the Colossus), I think we should all take a moment to reflect on E3 2001, when the GIA gave its Game-of-the-Show to dark horse candidate Ico … and GameSpot gave theirs to State of Emergency. History has vindicated one of these choices.
Also, we should enjoy this mockup I made of the inevitable U.S. packaging.

Looks interesting, but 4 years is kinda a long time between games…

You have any idea why insert-credit had this news 4 days before everybody else did? (although wanda was mistranslated to wonder)

plus it was on the main page

It’s my general policy not to comment on Tim Rogers, but I’m SURE he’ll be happy to show up in this comment thread and tell us ALL about it. He’s like Derek Smart that way.
Tim Rogers! Tim Rogers!! TIM ROGERS!!1

Why did you invoke HIS name?! Shit, why did you invoke BOTH of thier names?! Countdown to shameless self promotion…

“You have any idea why insert-credit had this news 4 days before everybody else did?”
Well, I wouldn’t say “everybody”.
I’m printing that cover art off to use in place of the inevitable whimsical PAL artbook packaging, though.

This is the day I have been waiting for for SO long now. It was the GIA’s hearty recommendation of ICO that filled me with an intense desire to play it. Then I bought it, long before I even owned a PS2. I’ve been waiting for news of a new ICO-related game from Fumito Ueda for ages now. Oh blissful day.

I linked you today, AV, so if you get any assholes coming over here and pushing stuff around, yell at them and they’ll run away.
Instead of talking about Ico 2, which I HAVE PLAYED AND YOU HAVE NOT, I will instead comment on Sega’s Dororo: it has nice full-motion video. And great box art. Box art of the year. It’s ゴ~~~~~~~ジャス with a capital ゴ.
Nice box art for Nico (what I’m afraid everyone will keep calling this game forever), by the way. I wanted to put it on my blog, though I figured I should ask permission first. By the time my permission is answered, however, it’ll probably be too late, anyway.
I can return the favor with a gmailed, shaky, lo-res digital camera video of Nico’s opening scene, delivered on the condition that you never show it to ANYONE.
haHAH!

I love the US box art! XD
My american friends were shocked when they saw the european box art for the game.

Did you know that there are people who find things to admire about both Andrew Vestal and Tim Rogers? It is true. But rare.

Is it so surprising that Insert Credit actually has some cool jazz now and then? They do know their stuff, even if so few appreciate their wacky ways.
I love everyone.
Also, strangely, I have yet to play ICO. I guess I’ll try to rent it or something.
