back in blue
Yukihime seems to be back and functional at the new server. I ended up going with Alex and Ray and Alex’s suggestion. The price is certainly right, and the two of them seem pleased with the level of service. More important to me is that they allow you to retroactively increase your plan up to one month after-the-fact in order to minimize charges – and their per gig overcharge fee is a delightfully low $1.50.
I remember when I was shopping around for a place to colocate the GIA, and I told people we needed 10-15 gigs a day, with 40-50 when we spiked. (By the end, 40-50 was our baseline, and the spikes made Baby Jesus cry.) Most colocators’ reaction was, “no you don’t! those numbers can’t be right.” Then I would insist we needed that we really did need that much bandwidth, and they’d kind of roll their eyes and try to get me off the phone ASAP.
The GIA shutdown anniversary was this April 1st, you know, so I guess I’m waxing nostalgic.
Apologies in advance if the LJ feed gets busted by the import and rebuild.
