Mom: you want us to bring you some good pancake mix?
Me: that’s okay, thanks though
Me: I’ll never use it. I don’t use nice things
Me: I’ve played too many RPGs
Mom: huh?
Me: RPGs train you to hoard your rare items
Me: I’ll just save the imported pancake mix for the last boss encounter

And then you’ll end up using your 99 Mid-Bisquicks instead, or bake him dead in two rounds. Always happens.

I’d reconsider. Sometimes you only get rare items by trading other rare items for them, so you might still have some use for a gourmet pancake mix. =P

Yoou know, I’ve sometimes wondered if years of playing RPGs since a very young age contributed to my turning out to an extremely frugal person. NES RPGs beat it into my head to conserve my items/MP/gil as much as possible. At the very least, I wouldn’t be surprised if the games DID help me pick up some resource management skills.

2 cups flour
4 tablespoons sugar
2 tablespoons baking powder
2 eggs
1 1/2 cups milk
4 tablespoons oil
1 teaspoon vanilla
Mix the wet and dry ingredients separately, then mix the two bowls together, stirring only until smooth. Fry in a buttered pan. Yummy pancakes, no mix required.
Of course, now you’re going to tell me that they don’t sell vanilla extract in Japan, or something weird like that.
DFS.

I bet he can still find actual vanilla beans and just infuse milk with them (that’s how french people use vanilla anyway).

I guess AV needs to work on his Infuse skill, then.

Hah.
I remember playing through FF4 and not using a single elixir (and very few if no ethers) until the very end. I’d have a bunch piled up and since the only things your money is good for at the end are ninja stars and elixirs and would just use them carelessly on my way to beat / while fighting Zeromus.
I never really put the two together, but I am a pretty frugal person… hmmm.
