The pictures are really funny. To be serious for a second it is sad to see a player such as Zidane, in his last game, in the World Cup, loose his cool and forever tarnish his record. Most people will not remember him as an amazing football player, but for the super headbutt that got him thrown out and perhaps changed the outcome of the match.

if you’ve seen the terrible commercial this one is based on, it works quite well:

No, Zidane will still be remembered as one of the greatest footballer of all time. Materazzi, however, will be forgotten. (Or at most, be remembered as one of the dirty Italian players.) http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=4454423686791361608

You know, this wouldn’t piss me off were it not for the fact that stuff like the video you posted happens about 5-10 times every single Sunday in your average European league. Part of being a good defender in football is that you have to be aggressive in trying to get the ball back from the opposite team, and if you draw a foul, fine, but at least they’ve interrupted the flow of play. It might look dirty, but that’s what the team is paying guys like Materazzi for.
I’m not saying the guy’s a saint, but I have to wonder: if Zidane had gotten away with it, and hadn’t been red carded, would there be so much hatred out there for the guy? More importantly, if he didn’t get red carded for what was essentially battery during a sporting match what then would have been the message? That you can commit a battery unpunished, so long as a guy called you names?

The important thing– much more important than the football tournament– is that these Photoshops got made.
